Bryan Hulbert – MECHANICSBURG, Penn. (May 8, 2018) With the notes and the laps to work with, Sam Hafertepe, Jr. kicked off his return trip to Pennsylvania with a fourth-place finish Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com.

“Friday we were good. It helped that I’ve raced there quite a bit, and we used some stuff that had worked for me in the past. The track was tough to pass on. I wasn’t locked down, but you had to hit the bottom without losing to much speed, so it helped that we were able to start near the front,” explained Hafertepe who rolled out of Williams Grove as the series point’s leader.

Looking to carry that momentum into Selinsgrove Speedway on Saturday night, the evening ended far from what Sam was looking to accomplish.

“Saturday we were just off and what made it more frustrating, is normally if we do start off slow, we get better as the night goes and that wasn’t the case. That's probably the most frustrated I've been at a race in a long time.”

Dropping to fourth in tour standings, Hafertepe and the Hills Racing Team No. 15h will look to rebound with three nights of competition this week at Humboldt Speedway on Wednesday, May 9, then Lakeside Speedway on Thursday, May 10, and finally I-30 Speedway on Saturday, May 12.

“We’ve run well at all three tracks were going to this week so we’re looking forward to it. We ran third at Humboldt last year at the Regional show and had a good battle with Aaron before I ran out of tear-offs at Lakeside and of course I-30, we won there last year so it should be a good week for us.”
