Sam Hafertepe Jr.

Sam turned 21 in October of 2006, and has shown the racing world that he can maintain good college grades while racing the American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) Circuit. Sam attends a junior college close to his home in Sunnyvale (Dallas), TX.

In 2004, while competing in ASCS and attending high school, he also belonged to the 99 Club, which means he maintained a 99 or better grade point average. Sam has always had a love for racing and thrives on competition. He grew up watching his father, Sam Hafertepe, compete in the dirt track Street Stock division, front-engine dragsters and a super gas Camero. His dad was his inspiration to begin racing and competing at a very young age. Sammy began his racing career when he was twelve years old. He first raced go-karts in the IKF and WKA Series. After racing for only two years, he had won the Track Championship at Blacklands Speedway. He also finished in the top-five for IKF and WKA Series in each of the three seasons he raced.

Looking for new challenges, and with the strong desire to advance his racing career, Sammy switched to the sprint car division in 2002. In his first year, he placed in the top 10 in points. Wanting to go even faster and furthering his racing career, Sammy joined the ASCS tour in 2003. That year he won the ASCS Gulf South Rookie Of The Year, John Bankston Hard Charger Award and an award for Perfect Attendance. Sam kicked off the 2004 season in grand style when he held off Terry Gray and Travis Rilat to score his first ever Sprint Car feature victory in the Gulf South Region opener at Thunder Valley Speedway in Union Hill, LA, on March 13. Sam also competed in some ARCA stock car starts in 2004. And competed in 28 of 33 ASCS National Tour events, posting several top-ten finishes which lead to 10th in overall points. Sam also won the 2004 ASCS Sportsmanship Award.

The 2005 season started off where he left off. Sam competed in select ARCA stock car events while racing the ASCS National Tour. Sam picked up an ASCS Gulf South Tour victory at Champion Park Speedway (LA) and with the finished in 3rd place in ASCS National Tour points in 2005. Sam continued his strong performances in 2006 and focused on winning the ASCS Sooner Region championship - which he did - besting 103 other drivers. Sam also competed at racing in over 10 states during the season, as far north as South Dakota and as far east as Virginia.

What's in the future for Sam? He is now racing the World Of Outlaws national tour and seeking a title sponsor for the team. That will allow the team to new tracks and markets with the best sprint car drivers in the world for years to come.
